On Sunday, I attended the Patchwork Show in Santa Ana which was organized by Nicole of RandomNicole.com and her aunt Delilah of Road Less Traveled, an eco-chic boutique. It was a gorgeous day with plenty of California sunshine and a nice breeze and there was a pretty good turnout, despite the location being a little hard to find.
We have done a few craft shows in the past (Craft Republic and Bazaar Bizarre) and have learned a few things each time we did them. This time was no different. Since this was our first outdoor show, there were some new challenges we faced:
- The sun: Normally, I love the weather here. I love that I don’t have to wear my jacket year-round like I did when I lived in the Bay Area. Sunday was no exception. However, a bit of shade would have been nice, so I’ll definitely bring a tent to our next outdoor show. At least I got a nice tan!
- The wind: The Santa Ana winds kicked up a bit yesterday, cooling me off when the sun started to get too hot. Our displays didn’t appreciate it as much. We had made some pretty new displays for Bazaar Bizarre, but as soon as I put them up, the wind knocked them over. Luckily I had our old displays with me. We’ll have to re-think the design for next time.
Despite these challenges, I still had a great time meeting people and selling our jewelry. This was a good learning experience and I’ll definitely apply these lessons to other fairs we do in the future.
As for customer favorites, there were some old ones and new ones on Sunday. The Lotus Necklace and Peacock Earrings continued to top the list but the Sunflower Necklace and the Oceana Bracelet were popular too. Check out these and our other great styles on our website.
Lastly, thanks to all of you who showed up to support Twinkle. We really appreciate you coming out to see us. Hope to see you at our next fair!
